Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Heavy equipment maintenance technology/technician. Heavy/industrial equipment maintenance technologies, other. Diesel mechanics technology/technician. Work site environment: Dusty. Heavy equipment. Work setting: Independently owned business. Tasks: Prepare production and other reports. Recommend measures to improve productivity . Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Supervise workers and projects. Co-ordinate and schedule activities. Recruit and hire workers and carry out related staffing actions. Train or arrange for training. Estimate costs and materials. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other work units. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Heavy duty equipment mechanics. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : First Aid Certificate. Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal Endorsement. Equipment and machinery experience: Diesel engines. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
