Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Install door, window and other hardware. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Saws. Nail guns. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Reliability. Team player. Values and ethics. Punctuality.
