*The Opportunity:*
Are you a registered dietitian or nutritionist passionate about empowering individuals and communities to make healthier choices? Aakom-Kiyii Health Services is seeking a dynamic and engaging Part-Time Dietitian/Nutritionist to join our Community Health team. In this term position (0.6 FTE), you will have the rewarding opportunity to work with a diverse population, providing essential nutrition services and education to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent disease. You will collaborate with a dedicated team and contribute significantly to the overall wellness of the Piikani Nation.
*Duties of the Dietician/Nutritionist will include (but are not limited to):*
* Collaborate effectively with AKHS staff to identify key nutritional needs within the community.
* Provide personalized nutrition coaching and expert guidance to clients on a one-on-one basis within the health center and during accompanied home visits.
* Conduct comprehensive client nutrition assessments to understand individual needs and challenges.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate tailored client nutrition care plans to prevent, treat, and manage disease, fostering healthier lifestyles.
* Plan and deliver engaging public health nutrition services and educational programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for individuals and groups in various settings, including facilities and community spaces.
* Create informative and accessible content such as blog posts, handouts, presentations, and social media content to reach a wider audience.
* Serve as a vital link between healthcare professionals and the community, facilitating clear communication and understanding of nutritional needs.
* Coordinate activities and collaborate closely with other AKHS health professionals and interagency departments, including the Elders Center, schools, daycare, and Headstart programs.
* Provide guidance to AKHS programs in selecting healthier food options to support a health-promoting environment.
* Uphold and respect traditional First Nation practices and protocols in all interactions with Piikani Nation members and clients.
*Required Qualifications:*
* Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Foods and Nutrition or an equivalent from an accredited Canadian University
* Two (2) years related experience
* Certified Diabetes Educator Certificate would be an asset
* Registered with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA)
