*Job Summary:* The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for promoting and ensuring effective health and safety practices on our construction sites and head office location. This role involves assessing risks, developing safety protocols, training employees, and ensuring compliance with NLCSA?s COR program and the Newfoundland and Labrador Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Continue effective operation of Allied?s current health and safety program.
* Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments.
* Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
* Coordinate with and assist site supervisors with ongoing safety requirements (toolbox talks, etc.)
* Provide and arrange as necessary, safety orientation few new subcontractors, ensure subcontractors provide documentation & maintain safety standards as required by regulatory bodies and Allied Construction, and that our safety plan is followed.
* Monitor compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
* Provide training and support to workers on safety practices.
* Investigate accidents and incidents, providing reports and recommendations.
* Liaise with Service NL?s Occupational Health and Safety, ensuring all safety standards are met.
* Maintain safety records and documentation.
*Qualifications:*
* A degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
* Certification in health and safety (such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional).
* Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety within the construction industry. A combination of education and field experience would be considered.
* Strong knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador?s occupational health and safety act and regulations.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
