*Roles and Responsibilities*
Reporting to the Controller and supporting multiple locations across Canada, we?re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a key part in the company?s financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with ASPE, and supporting various accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate with different departments to optimize financial processes and contribute to strategic decision-making.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and inventory accounting.
* Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting
* Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE and internal reporting requirements
* Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including inventory, fixed assets and accruals
* Assist in cash flow management, including forecasting, bank reconciliations, and treasury functions
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze financial performance, identify trends, and support business decisions
* Monitor key financial metrics, including profitability, margins, and expenses, to ensure alignment with budget and forecasts
* Support internal and external audits, including audit schedules and responding to inquiries
* Assist in developing and improving accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency
* Mentor and support junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
* Other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Controller.
*What the successful candidate will bring:*
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA designation (or in progress) is preferred
* 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, idealling in retail, cannabis, liquor or consumer goods industries
* Strong knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting, and internal controls
* Proficiency in Excel and Quickbooks (or similar accounting software)
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Self-motivated and detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
* Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across different teams
