Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Welding techniques: Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Shielded metal ARC (SMAW). Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG). Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Area of specialization: Structural metal or steel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding.
