Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Aviation/aerospace repair and overhaul. Tasks: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. CAMC Aviation Machinist Certification. Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Verniers. Equipment and machinery experience: Cylindrical grinders. Engine lathes. Milling machines. Surface grinders. Universal grinders. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Attention to detail. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Dependability. Excellent oral communication.
