Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit. Discuss work with supervisor. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Review work orders . Road test motor vehicles . Test automotive systems and components. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Provide customer service. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Welding experience. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Apprenticeship training: Level three apprenticeship training. Level four apprenticeship training. Types of systems: Air conditioning system. Diesel engine repair specialization: Major internal engine repairs or overhaul. Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Fuel injection system. Engine control system. Lubrication system. Cooling system. Exhaust system. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Power take-offs. Mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic transmissions. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Drive trains and final drives. Differentials. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Drive manual transmission vehicle.
