Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Construction site. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Instruct apprentices. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Supervise other workers. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Plumber Red Seal Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication.
