Education: College/CEGEP. Work site environment: In/on water. Work setting: Staff accommodation available. Tasks: Operate main engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment on ships. Supervise and co-ordinate activities of engine room crew. Stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance of engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : 1st Class Marine Engineer Certificate. Transport Canada Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency. Type of experience: Tank vessel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Sound discrimination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Overtime required. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent written communication.
