Education: College/CEGEP. Work site environment: In/on water. Tasks: Operate main engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment on ships. Supervise and co-ordinate activities of engine room crew. Stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance of engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment. Maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : 2nd Class Marine Engineer Certificate. Type of experience: Tank vessel. Security and safety: Medical exam. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sound discrimination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Personal suitability: Accurate. Dependability. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Reliability. Team player.
