*Community Kitchen Program of Calgary *is looking for a full-time purchaser to work within their Good Food Box Program. This program offer accessibility to healthy fruit and vegetables at an affordable cost, especially to Calgarians struggling with food insecurity. As the second largest food bank in Calgary, we are proud to be able to offer these produce boxes at close to half the cost of grocery stores. Our purchaser will work as part of a team to ensure the best produce options are found weekly and that the strong relationships that have been built with wholesalers, continue to thrive.
The role requires the following experience and skillset:
· *Placing orders:*
Ensuring orders are placed accurately and efficiently, with clear specifications and timelines.
· *Ensuring quality standards:*
Verifying that purchased goods and services meet the required quality standards and specifications as well as ensuring orders are correct.
· *Tracking and managing deliveries:*
Monitoring the status of orders and ensuring timely delivery to meet organizational needs.
· *Maintaining accurate records:*
Keeping track of inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory.
· *Staying informed about market trends:*
Monitoring changes in supply, demand, and pricing to ensure the organization receives the best value for its purchases.
· *Developing and implementing procurement strategies:*
Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies that optimize purchasing processes.
· *Building and maintaining supplier relationships:*
Fostering strong relationships with suppliers to ensure ongoing collaboration and access to competitive pricing and quality.
· *Warehouse work:*
* o Must be able to handle/move up to 50-60lb boxes of produce, checking for freshness and quality. Part of the process may include picking up or swapping out produce weekly, ensuring the best product is going into the boxes.
* o Must be certified and competent on a forklift, reach truck and with a palette jack, because time on the warehouse floor will be required weekly.
· *Making deliveries:*
Must have a class 5 driver?s license and able to drive both a 3-ton and 5-ton truck. They may be required to provide additional support with deliveries of Good Food Box to depots across the city and surrounding areas.
· *Administrative:*
Assisting with administrative duties including communicating with the depots, taking in surveys, organizing and processing monthly statistics.
· *Computer skills:*
Must be competent in working with Google Sheets, Excel and Word.
Salary based on experience/training. Range is from $55,000-$65,000/year.
