*Job Summary*
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive *Purchaser* to join our project management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and supplies necessary for our multifamily residential construction. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, vendor management, and the ability to negotiate prices effectively. The Purchaser will play a crucial role in ensuring that our construction project runs smoothly by maintaining optimal inventory levels and managing supplier relationships.
*Duties & Responsibilities*
* Source and procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor services necessary for project execution while ensuring compliance with project specifications and budgetary constraints
* Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable agreements and optimize project profitability
* Forecast inventory needs and manage stock levels efficiently
* Collaborate with internal teams to understand material requirements, schedule and forecast materials and equipment for construction project
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in purchasing software
* Analyze market trends and pricing strategies to make informed purchasing decisions
* Prepare reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance metrics
*Qualifications *
* Minimum 5 years proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role in the residential construction industry
* Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, vendor management, and supply chain processes
* Familiarity with purchasing software is highly desirable
* Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to evaluate pricing and market trends effectively
* Solid understanding of construction processes, building codes, and industry standards
* Strong mechanical or electrical trade experience is a asset
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
